Cherokee Wisdom

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two
"Wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil
It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false
pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good
It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Warm welcome to Reflections of the Heart, my home away from home. I am always so very pleased when a visitor stops by. Be sure to return often, the door is never closed and the tea is always brewing.

My site reflects all things that are near and dear to my heart. My causes, child abuse and animal abuse weigh heavily upon my heart. As long as there is a human race these abuses will never disappear but I hope and pray that maybe one day, we will see a decline in the number of cases.

I have dedicated pages to my family, my friends, my granddaughters, my grandson, my momma and my husband, Michael. I belong to two terrific groups, Women of Inner Strength & Beauty and Wings of Love and Light. You can visit these groups via their webpages listed on the menu above.

I am also co-host of a fun-loving, friendly forum called "The Mouse Pad". You can acquire a "free membership" so why not pop in and spend some time with us, I know Leslie our Founder would be only to pleased to have you visit. You can find us here.

Throughout the years on the internet, I have been fortunate to have encountered many, wonderful people who all mean the world to me. The one person who touched my heart deepest was a very young girl named Lo Lem. She adored her family, enjoyed writing poetry, short stories and had a passion for chocolate. Even though she suffered terribly with stomach cancer, her spirits always remained bright and cheery. I oft times would ask how she was doing and she'd reply "I'm okay...", but I knew she really wasn't.  She never once complained or felt sorry for herself, she was a very brave little girl. Sadly on July 19, 2001 at the tender age of 17, sweet Lo Lem  passed away. Such a sad and terrible loss to her family, friends and our cyberworld. Lo Lem's site still exists on the web and we still can  enjoy her lovely poetry and writings.... just click on her site name Lo Lem's Dwelling . I have included her poem below called "Me", I have not altered her lovely work, it's just as she intended it to be.

Me
by Lo Lem

"You have to be me,
To really understand me."
Teenager is what I truly am.
But really,
I'm just a girl,
Learning the way of life,
Experiencing the lies in many truth,
Testing  my friendships,
Through hard times,
Fun times,
And emotional times.
Don't try to change me,
For you never will.
Please try and be my friend,
Please stand by me,
support me,
Give me courage,
Give me hope,
And give me a chance.
